چکیده
Abstract Epikarst estuary response to hydroclimate change remains poorly understood, despite the well-studied link between climate and karst groundwater aquifers. The influence of sea-level rise coastal geomorphic on these estuaries obscures signals, thus requiring careful development paleoenvironmental histories interpret paleoclimate archives. We used foraminifera assemblages, carbon stable isotope ratios (δ 13 C) carbon:nitrogen (C:N) mass organic matter in sediment cores infer environmental changes over past 5300 years Celestun Lagoon, Yucatan, Mexico. Specimens (> 125 µm) from modern core top sediments revealed three assemblages: (1) a brackish mangrove assemblage agglutinated Miliammina Ammotium taxa hyaline Haynesina (2) an inner-shelf marine Bolivina , Hanzawaia Rosalina, (3) dominated by Ammonia Elphidium . Assemblages changed along lagoon channel salinity vegetation, i.e. seagrass mangrove. In addition deposited since cal yr BP are comprised two more defined Archaias Laevipeneroplis, which indicate Thalassia seagrasses, Trichohyalus, indicates restricted inland ponds. Our data suggest that Lagoon displayed four phases development: pond (5300 BP) shallow unprotected coastline with barrier island initiation (4900 protected (3000 BP), (4) surrounded mangroves (1700 BP). Stratigraphic (temporal) assemblages resemble spatial differences communities across lagoon, southern sector northern region. Similar temporal patterns have been reported other Yucatan Peninsula lagoons cenotes (Nichupte, Aktun Ha), suggesting regional sea level change, including controls (longshore drift) salinity, as observed today. Holocene progressively northwest coastline, reducing mixing seawater rain-fed submarine discharge. Superimposed this signal, reflect most severe wet dry episodes, coincide records lowland lake archives (Chichancanab, Salpeten). results emphasize need consider evolution when using epikarst for reconstruction provide evidence Peninsula.

Metazoan parasites of fishes from the Celestun coastal lagoon, Yucatan, Mexico.
The aims of this study were to produce a checklist of the metazoan parasites of fishes from the Celestun coastal lagoon and to determine the degree of faunal similarity among the fishes based on the metazoan parasites they share. A checklist was prepared including all available records (1996-2014) of parasites of marine, brackish water and freshwater fishes of the area. All of these data were i...
متن کاملCultural implications of late Holocene climate change in the Cuenca Oriental, Mexico.
There is currently no consensus on the importance of climate change in Mesoamerican prehistory. Some invoke drought as a causal factor in major cultural transitions, including the abandonment of many sites at 900 CE, while others conclude that cultural factors were more important. This lack of agreement reflects the fact that the history of climate change in many regions of Mesoamerica is poorl...

The origin of agriculture was a signal development in human affairs and as such has occupied the attention of scholars from the natural and social sciences for well over a century. Historical studies of climate and vegetation are closely associated with crop plant evolution because they can reveal the ecological contexts of plant domestication together with the antiquity and effects of agricult...

An integrated stratigraphic, paleoecological, and geochronological study of lake and fen sediments just beyond the terminus of Berendon Glacier provides insights into late Holocene climate, vegetation, and glacier change in the northern Coast Mountains of British Columbia. Cores collected from two small lakes in the foreland of Berendon Glacier and pits dug in a nearby fen record Little Ice Age...

Introduction Paleoclimatics studies can respond the many uncertainties about past climate change; an issue that is being studied seriously in the world but less attention has been paid in Iran. The Late Quaternary can be considered as Holocene. Holocene, which spans over 11,000 years ago; In general, it is considered as a period with relatively warm and stable climatic conditions. However, rec...
